Is Stress Exhausting Your Adrenal System?

Do you have times where it's like a light switch goes off, and your friends know that they have 3 minutes to feed you or you will kill them? Do you crave sugar? These are symptoms suggesting that your body’s adrenal gland stress handling system is getting exhausted. Here’s how you can support your adrenal “stress handler" so that you can feel better.

Symptoms of Adrenal Exhaustion
If your adrenal glands are underactive, what might you be experiencing? Low adrenal function can cause, among other symptoms:
  • Fatigue
  • Recurrent infections
  • Difficulty shaking off infections
  • Poor response and "crashing" during stress
  • Achiness
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar with irritability when hungry)
  • Low blood pressure and dizziness upon first standing
Blood tests will not pick up adrenal exhaustion until it is so severe that it is life threatening.
Causes of Adrenal Insufficiency
  1. Excess stress. Dr. Hans Selye, one of the first doctors to research stress reactions, found that if an animal becomes severely overstressed, its adrenal glands bleed and develop signs of adrenal destruction before the animal finally dies from the stress. I suspect that many people suffer exhaustion of their adrenal glands, but without the adrenal gland destruction that Hans Selye saw in his experimental animals.
  2. Excess caffeine. This has been shown to amplify your body's reaction to low blood sugar.
  3. Nutritional deficiencies. Especially vitamin C, chromium and pantothenic acid (vitamin B5).
Treating Adrenal Insufficiency
  1. Cut out sugar — except for chocolate. Small amounts of dark chocolate will give you an energy boost and also has a natural mood elevator. Ditch the “energy drinks” which are loan sharks for energy and worsen stress. For a real energy drink, use a vitamin powder and a special sugar called “ribose.”
  2. Cut down on caffeine. Switch to green tea, which has enough caffeine to give you a boost without crashing you. It also contains theanine, which helps calm you while leaving your mind clear. I tease that it is only a matter of time until the barista at your local coffee shop asks if you would like one pump of theanine or two added to your coffee.
  3. Eat a high-protein low carbohydrate diet .The news media tries to get your attention by making believe that everything is a crisis. It is not! When you find yourself stressing, ask yourself a simple question: "Am I in imminent danger?" If you do not like what you're seeing on the news, turn it off. If you think that what you are watching on the news is an accurate and balanced reflection of what is happening in the world, there are many people who would like to sell you a bridge in Brooklyn!
Natural Adrenal Support
Below are several things that can be very helpful in supporting your adrenal glands to heal:
  1. Adrenal glandulars.
  2. Vitamin C is critical for adrenal function. Your body's highest levels of vitamin C are found in the adrenal glands and brain tissues, and the urinary excretion of vitamin C is increased during stress. Optimizing vitamin C intake by taking 500-1,000 mg a day will also help immune function.
  3. Pantothenic acid, a B vitamin, also supports adrenal function, and Pantothenic acid deficiency causes shrinking of your adrenal glands. Optimal levels are approximately 100-150 mg daily, although some physicians use even higher levels for adrenal support.
  4. Licorice also slows down the breakdown of adrenal hormones in your body, helping to maintain optimal levels. Because of this, there is no licorice in licorice candies in the United States. Another beneficial effect of the licorice is that it helps in the treatment of indigestion, and it is even as effective as the prescription heartburn medication Tagamet (see my article on Eliminating indigestion Naturally).
  5. Chromium also helps decrease the symptoms of low blood sugar. Take 200 mcg a day.

Candida: Eliminating Yeast/Fungal Overgrowth

Have chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, or even sinusitis or spastic colon? You probably have overgrowth of yeast or Candida. Though poorly understood by most physicians, treating this underlying infection can have profound health benefits!

There are no definitive tests for yeast overgrowth that will distinguish yeast overgrowth from normal yeast growth in the body. However, if you have ANY of the following conditions you should be treated with anti-fungals:
  • CFS or fibromyalgia
  • Chronic nasal congestion or sinusitis
  • Spastic colon (gas, bloating, diarrhea and/or constipation)
  • Been on recurrent or long term antibiotics
  • Intermittent painful sores in the mouth (not cold sores on the outer lips) that last for about 10 days at a time
Many books on yeast overgrowth advise readers to avoid all yeast in the diet. However, trying to avoid all yeast in foods results in a nutritionally inadequate diet and does not substantially help most people.

The most important part of treating yeast overgrowth is avoiding sugar and other sweets, although I will add the 3 magic words "except for chocolate." You can also enjoy 1 or 2 pieces of fruit a day, but you should not consume concentrated sugars (fruit juice, jellies, pastry, etc.) Stay far away from soft drinks, which have 10-12 teaspoons of sugar in every 12 ounces. (For those with CFS/FMS, be prepared to have associated symptoms flare for about a week when you cut sugar out of your diet.)

A dietary method that can help restore balance in the bowel is the intake of acidophilus – that is, milk bacteria, which is a healthy type of bacteria. Acidophilus is found in yogurt with live and active yogurt cultures. Eating one cup of yogurt a day can markedly diminish the frequency of recurrent vaginal yeast infections. Acidophilus is also available in supplement form.

Many other natural anti-fungals can be helpful, but when used individually in a high enough dose to kill the yeast they also irritate the stomach. Because of this you should combine multiple anti-fungal herbs.

It is critical to add a prescription anti-fungal as well, because the natural products only kill yeast in the gut and are not as strong. I recommend that almost all of my CFS/FMS patients use Diflucan for 6-12 weeks.


Treating yeast is one of the most important parts of treating CFS/FMS, chronic sinusitis, or spastic colon. Though it takes 5 months to restore balance, you'll be feeling much better after 1 month on the Diflucan anti-fungal medication.

If your physician won't prescribe it, see a Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center physician or a Board Certified Holistic Physician. You'll be glad you did!

Effective Treatment for Chronic Fatigue (CFS) and Fibromyalgia

Having had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia (FMS), with the medical system having no idea how to help, I understand what you are going through. I also know you can get well!

I came down with what I call the "Drop Dead Flu" in 1975 while in medical school, which triggered my CFS/FMS. As I was working to pay my own way through school, the illness left me homeless and sleeping in parks in Oklahoma. It is exciting, though, to see how life magically brings us what we need. I met many natural health practitioners while homeless, each of whom taught me bits and pieces of what I needed to learn to get well. And I did!

After returning to medical school, I have spent the last 30+ years researching and treating chronic fatigue and chronic pain (especially CFS and fibromyalgia). Our published research shows 91% improve using our "SHINE Protocol," and hundreds of thousands have been helped.

Ready to Get Well?
A study I worked on titled "Effective Treatment of CFS and Fibromyalgia" (published in Journal of CFS) showed that 91% of patients improved with treatment, with an average improvement in quality of life of 90%. Many patients no longer even qualified for the diagnosis of CFS or fibromyalgia after treatment! In support of our work, an editorial in the Journal of the American Academy of Pain Management (the largest multidisciplinary society of pain specialists in the United States) noted "the comprehensive and aggressive metabolic approaches to treatment detailed in the Teitelbaum study are highly successful approaches and make fibromyalgia a very treatment responsive disorder. The study by Dr. Teitelbaum et al, and years of clinical experience make this approach an excellent and powerfully effective part of the standard of practice for treatment of people who suffer from fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome.” These same principles work wonderfully for optimizing energy in those with day to day fatigue.

What is Causing These Syndromes?
CFS/FMS acts as a “circuit breaker,” with the hypothalamus decreasing its function to protect the individual in the face of what is perceived to be an overwhelming stress (just like blowing a fuse or circuit breaker in a house). This center controls sleep, hormones, temperature, blood flow, blood pressure and sweating. In addition, if your muscles do not have enough energy, they will get stuck in the shortened position and you’ll be in pain (think rigor mortis). This “energy crisis” can be caused by any of a number of infections, stresses or injuries.

Five Main Categories of Problems Need to Be Treated Think “SHINE!”

These are the five key areas that need to be treated for your “circuit breaker to turn back on” and for fatigue and pain to resolve:

  1. Sleep. Because the hypothalamic “circuit breaker” that is offline controls sleep, most patients need a mix of natural and prescription sleep treatments. For you to get well and pain free, it is critical that you take enough of the correct natural and prescription sleep treatments to get eight to nine hours sleep at night! I recommend starting with natural therapies and supplements. Hormonal deficiencies. The hypothalamus is the main control center, via the pituitary, for most of the glands in the body. Most of the normal ranges for our blood tests were not developed in the context of hypothalamic suppression or these syndromes. Because of this (and for a number of other reasons) it is usually necessary to treat with natural thyroid, adrenal, and ovarian and testicular hormones ― despite normal blood tests! These hormones have been found to be reasonably safe when used in low doses. Low thyroid, which reflects as fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance and even unexplained infertility, is especially common, and the majority of those who benefit from thyroid have normal lab tests, so treatment trial should be given (using natural thyroid hormones) if symptoms are suggestive.
  2. Infections. Many studies have shown immune system dysfunction in CFS/FMS, which can result in many unusual infections. These include many different viral infections (the recently reported XMRV virus is one of many — we’ll discuss this in an upcoming blog), parasites and other bowel infections, antibiotic sensitive infections, and, most importantly, fungal/Candida infections.
  3. Nutritional supplementation. Widespread nutritional deficiencies are common, and require dozens of nutrients. I recommend a good daily multivitamin. Ribose supplementation should also be taken as it can powerfully jump start your energy. In our initial study, ribose increased energy an average of 45% in just three weeks. A second, larger study conducted by 81 physicians (currently being prepared for publication) showed an average of over 59% increase in energy in those with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.
  4. Exercise as able. Do not push to the point of crashing the next day. Start by walking as long as you comfortably can (even if that is only two minutes). After 10 weeks on treatment, start to increase your walks by up to one minute more each day as able. When you are up to an hour of walking, you can increase intensity.

¿Cuáles son las Infecciones Alimenticias Más Comunes?


las aves de corral Por primera vez, los investigadores han vinculado las enfermedades transmitidas por los alimentos que son propensos a tener bacterias, y los clasificaron de acuerdo con su impacto económico. Descubrieron que de los patógenos que le cuestan más caro a la sociedad, la mitad de ellos es encuentra en las carnes.
Los alimentos y la combinación de contaminantes de los alimentos que causan la mayor parte del daño económico es el Campylobacter en el pollo.  La bacteria Campylobacter enferma a más de 600,000 personas y le cuesta a Estados Unidos $1.3 billones anuales.  En segundo lugar se encuentra la toxoplasma en el puerco, que representa un gasto de $1.2 billones al año.
El Washington Post reporta que:
"La salmonella fue etiquetada como la bacteria que causa la mayor parte de enfermedades, con un costo de $3 billones anuales…. El gobierno federal estima que uno de cada seis estadounidenses se enferma cada año debido a infecciones trasmitidas por los alimentos."

Se estima que uno de cada seis estadounidense se enferma cada año a causa de alimentos contaminados.  En ocasiones se presenta en forma de diarrea y vomito por 24 horas que desaparece por sí solo, pero en otros casos los patógenos transmitidos por alimentos pueden causar falla en algún órgano, parálisis, daño neurológico, ceguera, muerte del feto o incluso la muerte.
A pesar de que más de 100,000 personas han sido hospitalizadas por enfermedades transmitidas por alimentos cada año en los Estados Unidos, y 3,000 personas mueren, no se sabía con exactitud cuáles eran los alimentos más riesgosos – hasta ahora.
Un nuevo reporte del Instituto Emergente de Patógenos de la Universidad de Florida, ha revelado cuales son las combinaciones de patógenos en los alimentos que pueden enfermarlo, y la información señaló a las carnes contaminadas, incluyendo el pollo, el puerco y los embutidos, como los principales responsables.

Varios días después de semana a santa mi hermana Janet quien inicio su práctica médica conmigo en 1985, y es ahora la editora principal de mi boletín, me llamó preocupada por su hijo de 12 años que estaba muy enfermo.
Resulta que él consumió un huevo de pascua de chocolate de Fannie Mae dos días atrás, que sus abuelos bien intencionados le habían dado en una canasta de pascua.  Desafortunadamente, tuvo una sobre carga de azúcar y como resultado se enfermo la semana siguiente.
Hicimos algunas pruebas de sangre para descartar algo serio y confirmar que estaba estable, y bien.   Él respondió muy bien al ayuno, al descanso y al jengibre durante los días de nausea persistentes.

¿Cuáles son las Carnes y Contaminantes Propensos a Causarle Enfermedades?

Esto es exactamente lo que revelo el reporte de la Universidad de Florida, con la esperanza de “permitir que los reguladores de seguridad alimenticia orienten los escasos fondos públicos hacia la mayoría de los problemas de seguridad alimenticia y puedan encontrar soluciones que protejan a los consumidores.”
Después de revisar la información sobre los 14 patógenos que causan el 95 por ciento de los casos de enfermedades transmitidas por alimentos, las combinaciones de patógenos en los alimentos clasificados en la parte más alta de la lista propensos a enfermarlo fueron el pollo, el  puerco y los embutidos.
  • Carne de pollo contaminada con Campylobacter: registra 600,000 casos de enfermedades, 7,000 hospitalizaciones anuales

    Se descubrió que el pollo causa más enfermedades transmitidas por alimentos que cualquier otro alimento, ascendiendo a $2.4 mil millones en costos de enfermedad. La principal bacteria fue la Campylobacter, seguida de la Salmonella.
    Los pollos y pavos normalmente albergan la bacteria Campylobacter en sus tractos digestivos sin enfermarse. Los antibióticos aplicados rutinariamente a dichas aves en las operaciones de alimentación de animales (CAFOs por sus siglas en ingles) no eliminan completamente la bacteria Campylobacter de los tractos intestinales de las aves, por lo que las bacterias que sobreviven son más fuertes ya que han resistido ser eliminadas por los antibióticos. Esas bacterias proliferan en las aves y terminan transmitiéndose a los humanos, junto con la resistencia los antibióticos.
    La bacteria Campylobacter es encontrada en los canales de pollo en los mataderos y en los productos avícolas comerciales—incluyendo la capa exterior del paquete - donde pueden fácilmente infectarlo a usted, a sus hijos y sus mascotas.
    La única manera de determinar si usted tiene la bacteria Campylobacter u otra infección trasmitida por los alimentos, como la Salmonella, es mediante un cultivo de materia fecal.
    Si se descubre que usted tiene la infección por la bacteria Campylobacter, probablemente podrá recuperarse sin tratamiento en un periodo de dos a cinco días, tomando muchos líquidos para evitar la deshidratación. En algunos casos, la bacteria Campylobacter puede causar problemas más graves. Un tipo de artritis y problemas neurológicos han sido reportados como enfermedades secundarias como resultado de intoxicación por Campylobacter, a pesar de que estas reacciones no son comunes.
    Una complicación grave del Campylobacter es el síndrome de Guillain-Barre (GB), una enfermedad neurológica relativamente rara, caracterizada por debilidad progresiva  en los músculos.  Aunque otras bacterias pueden crear el síndrome GB, se cree que  la bacteria Campylobacter es la responsable de casi la mitad de los casos de GB en los Estados Unidos.
  • Puerco contaminado con Toxoplasma: se han reportado 35,000 casos de enfermedad, 2,000 hospitalizaciones anuales

    La Toxoplasma gondii es el parasito responsable de la toxoplasmosis y es uno de los parásitos mas comunes del mundo. Es típicamente asociada con el contacto de heces de gato contaminadas pero un nuevo reporte manifiesta que el CDC ahora estima que el 50 por ciento de la toxoplasmosis es transmitida por los alimentos.
    Los autores manifestaron que:
    "…La toxoplasmosis transmitida por los alimentos es la causante de 327 muertes al año, y es la segunda después de la Salmonella."
    La Toxoplasma puede ser transmitida por comer o tocar carne contaminada sin cocinar, frutas, vegetales, o tomar agua contaminada. El reporte señaló que el cerdo, seguido por la carne de res, era el más probable de transmitir el parasito.
    En la mayoría de las personas saludables, la infección toxoplasmosis es asintomática, no causa síntomas debido a que su sistema inmunológico impide que el parasito cause la enfermedad. De hecho, se estima que en los Estados Unidos el 23 por ciento de la población ha sido infectada por toxoplasma, y de acuerdo con el Centro de Control de Enfermedades y Prevención un total del 95 por ciento de personas en el mundo han sido infectadas.
    Cuando los síntomas se presentan pueden incluir inflamación de las glándulas, fatiga, dolor muscular, dolor de garganta y erupción cutánea. En las mujeres embarazadas, sin embargo, la infección de toxoplasmosis recién adquirida puede provocar parto prematuro, enfermedades graves y ceguera en los recién nacidos.
    Por esta razón comúnmente se recomienda que las mujeres embarazadas (y esas personas con un sistema inmunológico comprometido) tomen precauciones y eviten tener contacto con las heces de gato, arena para gato o alimentos potencialmente contaminados, tierra o agua.
    Cabe señalar sin embargo que, si ha estado expuesto anteriormente al parasito (aun sin tener síntomas) esto le causará inmunidad para que no se vuelva a infectar nuevamente.
  • Embutidos contaminados con Listeria: se reportaron 600 hospitalizaciones y más de 100 muertes anuales.

    La CDC estima que 2,500 estadounidenses se enferman gravemente de listeria cada año y entre estas personas, 500 morirán. Usted puede contraer listeriosis (enfermedad de la ingestión de Listeria) al comer vegetales crudos contaminados, carnes y embutidos. A pesar de que la cocción de alimentos mata la listeria, el reporte descubrió que los embutidos o carnes frías son los productos más riesgosos, ya que los alimentos-listos-para-comer como estos, pueden estar contaminados aun después de haber sido cocinados mediante el proceso de envasado.
    De acuerdo con el reporte, el riesgo asociado con las carnes frías o embutidos del supermercado tiene cinco veces más riesgo que los embutidos pre empacados. Otros brotes de listeria han sido vinculados con los quesos blandos hecho de leche sin pasteurizar, particularmente queso fresco, un famoso queso mexicano.
    La FDA advierte frecuentemente contra la ingesta de leche cruda ya que puede estar contaminada con listeria. Pero en realidad, ¿Cuántos de los 2,500 casos de listeria provienen de la leche cruda?
    De acuerdo con la FDA y el CDC, desde el año 1998 hasta mayo del 2005 hubo 45 brotes de enfermedades transmitidas por los alimentos que implicaron a la leche sin pasteurizar, o al queso hecho de leche sin pasteurizar. Estos brotes representan 1,007 enfermedades, 104 hospitalizaciones y dos muertes.
    Esto equivale a 144 casos al año. Y eso suponiendo que CADA persona que se enfermó con la leche cruda ese año fue infectada con listeria, lo que no es muy probable.
    Por lo tanto, es probable que un número mucho menor a las 144 personas al año se haya enfermado de listeria debido a la leche cruda. El restante de los 2,500 casos de listeria al año proviene, como indica el reporte, de embutidos principalmente. Las salchichas, carne para untar refrigeradas, y ensaladas de mariscos o carne pre empacadas también se la ha vinculado con el brote de listeria.
    Aunque las listeriosis es generalmente una enfermedad muy ligera en las personas saludables, causando pocos o ningún síntoma, las personas con un sistema inmunológico débil y las mujeres embarazadas son más propensos al riesgo. En las mujeres embarazadas, la listeria puede causar parto prematuro, aborto, infección o muerte del recién nacido.

La Salmonella y el Norovirus son También un Importante Riesgo de Intoxicación

El reporte encontró que la Salmonella tiene la mayor carga de salud medida tanto por el costo de la enfermedad como por la pérdida de los QALY (años de vida ajustados por calidad), pero la enfermedad se extendió a lo largo de una gran variedad de productos alimenticios. En resumen, la información mostró que usted está más propenso a enfermarse de Salmonella cuando come:
  • Pollo
  • Vegetales contaminados (particularmente tomates, germinados y melón)
  • Huevos
Tanto la Salmonella como el Norovirus son un grupo de virus responsables del brote de gastroenteritis de origen alimenticio, y se les vinculó fuertemente con los llamados "alimentos complejos"- alimentos que contienen una serie de ingredientes donde el responsable especifico no pudo ser identificado. A menudo, estos alimentos provenían de restaurantes, lo que sugiere que la contaminación pudo haber ocurrido durante el proceso de preparación o cocción. El reporta señala:
"El papel de los trabajadores de la alimentación ha sido entendido como un factor crítico en los brotes. Se ha sugerido que casi el 70 por ciento de las enfermedades transmitidas por alimentos son obtenidas fuera de casa. En nuestro análisis de los brotes complejos de alimentos entre 1998 y 2008, más del 70 por ciento de ellos fue causado por la Salmonella y el 80 por ciento por Norovirus preparados en cocinas profesionales."
Razones de mas para entrar en el habito de preparar nuestros alimentos de alta calidad en casa.
Por supuesto, ninguna discusión de las enfermedades transmitidas por alimentos estaría completa, sin abordar la verdadera raíz del problema, que es la necesidad de que la agricultura, los productores de alimentos y las agencias reguladoras limpien sus actos.
El reporte encontró que el ¡“se estima que el consumo de alimentos regulados por la FDA que causan alrededor de la mitad de las enfermedades transmitidas por los alimentos”!  La verdadera solución para crear alimentos saludables y más seguros se encuentra en la limpieza de las condiciones de cultivo y plantas de procesamiento y lo más importante, regresar a la agricultura de pequeña escala.

Otra de las Razones por la Cual Debe Comprar su Carne solo A Través de Fuentes Confiables

Si usted todavía compra su carne en el supermercado local, debe sabe que está apoyando directamente a un sistema alimenticio que promueve la contaminación generalizada.  Y puede estar seguro que mientras haya personas que estén dispuestas a comprar barato, la carne contaminada y su industria seguirán creciendo.
Pruebas del Reporte del Consumidor indicaron que el 83 por ciento de los pollos enteros frescos comprados en el supermercado están contaminados con Campylobacter o Salmonella
Esto es claramente inaceptable, y si usted comienza a pedir más carne de ganado criado de manera saludable, humana y sin toxinas ni enfermedades, los productores  no tendrán otra opción que escuchar lo que los clientes piden.
Así que fueron establecidas precauciones sobre la limpieza de las superficies que tocan la carne y cocinarlos cuidadosamente para evitar enfermedades.  Pero por favor recuerde que se trata de pollos CAFO.  Los pollos criados localmente de manera saludable no tienen esas tasas de infecciones.
Sí  existe este tipo de carne saludable y tratada humanamente, y la puede encontrar al comprar la carne y el pollo directamente de un productor de confianza que ejerza las practicas de crianza que usted conoce.  El apoyo a los agricultores locales y rancheros pueden hacer una gran diferencia en el sistema alimenticio en general, y lo más importante, en su salud personal.
Me di cuenta que no todos tenemos acceso a los pequeños agricultores, pero los alimentos de las fuentes locales está aumentando en popularidad y cada vez es más fácil de obtener dichos productos.

Mas Tips para Evitar la Intoxicación Alimenticia

Además de comprar sus alimentos de fuentes de alta calidad a pequeña escala, la mejor manera de protegerse usted mismo de una infección trasmitida por alimentos es fortaleciendo su sistema inmunológico.  Esto se puede llevar a cabo mediante las elecciones diarias en su estilo de vida que apoyan a su salud en general, como:
  • Evitar el Azúcar- especialmente la fructosa—los granos, los alimentos procesados, y comer suficientes alimentos orgánicos crudos.  Por favor revise mis comentarios al principio de este artículo, que proporcionan una anécdota personal sobre la importancia de evitar el azúcar.
  • Tenga un sueño profundo y restaurador
  • Encuentre la manera de deshacerse del estrés (mi herramienta favorita es el EFT)
  • Incorpore un plan de ejercicio regular cada semana
  • Optimice sus niveles de vitamina D a través de la exposición solar o suplementación en caso de ser necesario.

Si Llegase a Intoxicarse con una Enfermedad Transmitida por Alimentos....

Naturalmente, si su caso es grave, busque un tratamiento médico, ya que la intoxicación alimenticia puede ser fatal.  Si sus heces son de color negro o tienen una consistencia parecida al alquitrán, esa es una señal de estar gravemente deshidratado y necesitará líquidos por vía intravenosa.  En caso de enfermedad grave, es posible que también necesite un tratamiento con antibióticos.  Sin embargo, algunas bacterias transmitidas por alimentos son resistentes a muchos antibióticos comúnmente utilizados.
Afortunadamente, la mayoría de los casos pueden ser tratados en casa, utilizando algunas  estrategias naturales comprobadas con el tiempo.
En primer lugar es necesario asegurarse de estar completamente hidratado, así que tome muchos líquidos claros, como agua pura y caldos.  También puede ser necesario tomar algún tipo de electrolitos orales, encontrados en la mayoría de las farmacias.
Lo más importante es asegurarse de tomar un probiótico de alta calidad.  En el tratamiento de diarrea infecciosa aguda, son necesarias grandes dosis terapéuticas.
Si usted cuenta con un probiótico con más de 50 billones de CFUs por dosis puede tomar cuatro capsulas inicialmente y posteriormente de tres a cuatro veces al día con el estomago vacio.  Una vez que la enfermedad es tratada debe continuar con una dosis más elevada de cuatro capsulas 2 veces al día durante algunos días más para ayudar a recolonizar su intestino.
El carbón activado (es comúnmente utilizado para tratar la intoxicación accidental con químicos tóxicos) también puede ser un recurso efectivo en los casos de intoxicación por alimentos.  No es toxico y puede ser comprado en la mayoría de las tiendas y farmacias.

This is my ninth day and I haven't had one craving for the foods I thought I couldn't live without.
I haven't been able to stick to the primary chart but I am only eating the things on chart 1 and 2 nothing else, staying away from dairy.

Protein Types operate best on a low-carbohydrate, high-protein and relatively high-fat diet (healthy fat that is). These ratios are detailed for you in your Nutritional Typing profile to help you make the wisest food choices.
Nutritional Typing - Mixed type Mixed Types
Mixed Types require food combinations somewhere between carb and protein type groups. This type requires quite a bit of fine-tuning and listening to your body, making it the most challenging type of the Nutritional Typing types.
You need to know that Nutritional Typing is not a diet. And it certainly is not a one-size-fits-all program by any measure.

    I advise two important points:
    Eat fresh, locally grown, organic food whenever possible.
    Eat as much of your food raw as possible, as it helps in preserving the nutrient's vital energy, so your body can use it.
    If you do cook your food (which we know most people will), please use our low-temperature guidelines as much as possible to minimize heat damage to your food. If you are familiar with the differences between raw and pasteurized milk, you will appreciate the similarity with cooking your food.
  • Supplementation

    How dependent are you on supplements? NT emphasizes food sources as cellular fuel.
    Nutritional Typing (NT) focuses primarily on using food for your cellular fuel, and only using supplements when indicated for specialized conditions.
    In our experience, focusing heavily on supplements to improve your health hardly ever helps people make big or lasting wellness improvements. And, we really want to see you make long-term and permanent advances to your health and wellbeing.
